If you have ever walked through a laptop market in Lahore, Karachi, or Rawalpindi, you have probably noticed one name coming up again and again: the Lenovo ThinkPad T480. It is a business laptop that people trust because it keeps working long after many other machines slow down.
But buying one is not as simple as picking the cheapest listing. Prices change from seller to seller, used units come in very different conditions, and a wrong charger or tired battery can turn a good deal into a headache.
This guide walks you through everything a careful buyer should know: specifications, price in Pakistan, real-world performance, pros and cons, comparisons, OLX risks, charger and battery advice, and where to buy safely. By the end, you will know exactly what to check before you spend your money.
Is the Lenovo ThinkPad T480 Worth Buying?
Yes, for most students, freelancers, office workers, and small business owners, the Lenovo ThinkPad T480 is worth buying. It offers a strong keyboard, solid build quality, good upgrade options, and dependable daily performance at a price that is far lower than a new premium laptop. If you want to see how it compares with other budget-friendly options, you can also browse our guide to HP laptop prices in Pakistan between 20,000 and 30,000.
It is not meant for heavy gaming or professional video editing. But for documents, browsing, video calls, accounting software, programming basics, and online work, it handles the job comfortably.
Know the Lenovo ThinkPad T480 Specifications
Before comparing prices, understand what you are actually buying. The T480 is a 14-inch business laptop, and most units sold in Pakistan share a similar base.
Key Features at a Glance
- Display: 14-inch screen, available in HD and Full HD options
- Processor: 8th generation Intel Core i5 or i7 in most units
- Memory: Commonly 8GB or 16GB DDR4, upgradeable
- Storage: SSD options, usually 256GB or 512GB
- Ports: USB-C, USB 3.0, HDMI, and more depending on the model
- Keyboard: The classic ThinkPad keyboard with the red TrackPoint
- Battery: A unique dual-battery design, with one internal and one removable
That dual-battery system is one of the most talked-about features. You can swap the external battery without shutting the laptop down, which is very handy during long workdays or load shedding.
Understand Lenovo ThinkPad T480 Price in Pakistan
Price is the first thing most buyers search for, and it is also where confusion starts. The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 price in Pakistan is not fixed. It depends on several factors:
- Processor: A Core i7 costs more than a Core i5
- RAM and storage: 16GB RAM with a 512GB SSD sits higher than 8GB with 256GB
- Screen type: Full HD and touchscreen versions are usually pricier
- Condition: Grade A units with clean bodies cost more than worn ones
- Battery health: A laptop with a strong battery commands a better price
- Seller type: Importers and suppliers price differently from individual sellers
Because the market moves often, always ask for a current quote instead of relying on an old listing. A reliable supplier will tell you the exact configuration and condition in writing.
If your budget is tight, it helps to see what else is available. Our guide to HP laptop prices in Pakistan between 20,000 and 30,000 shows what entry-level options look like, and the Dell laptop price guide for the same range gives you another useful reference point.
Check Performance and Battery Life Honestly
The T480 runs smoothly with an 8th generation processor and enough RAM. Here is what you can realistically expect:
- Office work: Excellent. Word, Excel, and multiple Chrome tabs run without trouble
- Online classes and meetings: Smooth with Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams
- Light creative work: Fine for basic photo editing and design tasks
- Programming: Great for web development and learning to code
- Gaming and heavy editing: Not ideal
Battery Life Reality Check
With both batteries in good shape, the T480 can last a full working day, which is a real advantage in Pakistan where power cuts are common. But remember that most available units are used, so battery health varies a lot. Ask the seller for battery wear details or test it yourself before buying.
Read the Lenovo ThinkPad T480 Review: Pros and Cons
Here is an honest look at what users like and dislike.
Pros
- Outstanding keyboard comfort for long typing sessions
- Tough, business-grade build quality
- Dual-battery design for extended use
- Easy to upgrade RAM and storage
- Good port selection
- Strong value for money in the used market
Cons
- Standard HD screens look average in brightness and color
- Used units may have worn keys or tired batteries
- Fans can get noisy under heavy load
- Heavier than modern ultrabooks
In short, any Lenovo ThinkPad T480 review worth reading will say the same thing: it is a workhorse, not a showpiece. If you value reliability over looks, it is a smart pick.
Compare the T480 With Other Business Laptops
Many buyers also look at HP and Dell models before deciding. Here is a simple way to think about it.
ThinkPad T480 vs. HP business laptops: HP models like the EliteBook line offer sleek designs and good screens, but ThinkPad keyboards and upgrade options are generally stronger.
ThinkPad T480 vs. Dell Latitude: Dell Latitude laptops are similar in spirit, offering durability and good performance. The ThinkPad usually wins on keyboard feel, while Dell can sometimes offer slightly lower prices.
If you want to explore alternatives before deciding, check the HP and Dell guides linked above. Comparing two or three options is the easiest way to avoid regret later.
Weigh Lenovo ThinkPad T480 OLX Listings Against a Supplier
Searching for a Lenovo ThinkPad T480 OLX listing is very common, and you can sometimes find a good deal. But OLX comes with real risks:
- No warranty or after-sales support
- Hidden problems such as weak batteries or replaced parts
- Misleading photos or inflated specifications
- Scam risks, especially with advance payment requests
- Difficulty getting a refund or exchange
If you do buy from OLX, always inspect the laptop in person, check the serial number, run a battery report, test every port, and never pay in advance.
Buying from an established supplier costs a little more, but you get tested units, honest condition details, and someone to contact if something goes wrong. For most buyers, that peace of mind is worth the small difference.
Pick the Right Lenovo ThinkPad T480 Charger
The Lenovo ThinkPad T480 charger is a detail many buyers forget until it is too late. The laptop supports two charging types: the rectangular Lenovo slim tip connector and USB-C charging.
Keep these points in mind:
- Original chargers are rated at 65W or 90W depending on the model
- Cheap duplicate chargers may overheat or damage the battery
- Not every USB-C charger delivers enough power for stable charging
- Always check that the charger is genuine before buying
If a seller offers a laptop without a charger, treat that as a red flag or factor the replacement cost into your budget. A genuine charger protects both your battery and your motherboard.
Plan for Battery Replacement
Since the T480 has two batteries, replacing them is easier than on most laptops. The external battery pops out in seconds, and the internal one can be replaced with basic tools.
Before buying, ask these questions:
- How long does the battery hold under normal use?
- Has either battery been replaced?
- Is the replacement original or a compatible copy?
A fresh original battery can make an older T480 feel almost new, so negotiate if the current one is weak.
